hey guys welcome to my 6th grade Humanities class I miss her hammer and I just wanted to talk a little bit about what this class is all about queso this picture here a little clue about some things we may be learning about in class this year in 6th grade humanities show me a picture of Sherlock Holmes or a detective Crow says all sensory details there's a rat reading a book called boy which Bible that says licorice made from rap 1/2 of all kinds of little things the cafeteria today hey we have all kinds of little things to give us a clue as to what will be learning about in this class it's only give you a little bit about the course description Amanda is what's the combination of different types of text writing in history students are able to understand the term Humanities by making clear connection between literature and history in this class students will be taking a journey through different cultures by interacting with the amplify curriculums let me just say that the end is really interesting and really a lot of fun soon. And writing different types of texting stories in the exploration of these units class was just a diversity of learning styles and connect to the new Common Core Sanders we'll be using the California Common Core State Standards for the basis of her learning you standards require all of us to be proficient 21st century critical thinkers independent readers and effective communicators to do this will be developing calling habits of mind through our studies so curiosity open this engagement creativity persistence responsibility and flexibility and you can go a if you want to pause you can go ahead and read through what each of those is about here's the units that he will be looking at our first unit we have Roald Dahl and narrative we have Tom Sawyer and Sherlock Holmes after that the chocolate collection and then the Greeks were read a lot of Greek myths ancient civilizations project after that so really a lot of interesting and fun things that we're doing is the grading policy okay so everything is graded on a with a roof rack and the majority of the greatest password 35% 20% is writing Savannah River at 10% speaking listen partner reading 25% and then 10% is and if you want to positive show me through that and ask me any questions that you have when you get the class or email me any questions you might have we have five grading scale and the citizenship grade Sol 90 to 100 is an A or an e citizen Shepherds excellent 8289 is a b r a g which is good for citizenship 7279 is a sea or an S with a satisfactory for citizenship be really want to get up there to a b r a g e or an A 6269 is where you need improvement with a D or an answer needs Improvement and 59% and below is a f which is failing the class and that you for unsatisfactory Behavior September consist of completing work not completed in class and cleaning your Lexia power-up minutes for the week you're right down your homework and keep track working and finishing your Google calendar here's the beginning of class procedures there's still some distance learning procedures there in case we have to go back to that but these are all the in class procedures if you want to pause the video and reread that and restaurant policy in class to use restroom at work. I be restroom check out sheet will be allowed to leave the room once per week I expect that you'll ask to use restroom and every planter open and ready to be signed. Out of your students and that you won't be permitted to do so Ataxia like a yellow paper that I'm going to hand out at the calendar and that's what will keep track of your visits and that's how you get permission to use restroom during class can hand raising so raise your hand speak out loud in class talk only one permitted be aware of the situation K and wait till it for me to finish talking before you raise your hand because there's times where I am talking and I answer your questions you want to listen and then if you stop a question you can raise your hand queso students are responsible for all miss work during the absence so you have to notify the teacher by a male okay if you're missing something or I can turn something in I'm citizen at this is how you get your citizenship grade 10 points a week for citizenship 20 points every two weeks 18 to 20 the poison and the you lose points for these sorts of things a composite and read through those if you'd like and every student will be held accountable to reach respect enthusiasm cheapest Hardware and then I can have a copy of you for you to print this out along with your parents to sign it so if you have any questions let me know this is going to be a great year I'm so excited we will see you in class
